          ISO Strategy 2030 comes into force

          09.03.2021

          The International Organization for Standardization's Strategy 2030 has entered into force, as officially announced by Eddy Njoroge, President of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Sergio Mujica, Secretary General of ISO.

          Work on the document continued for two years, after which it was approved by all governing bodies of ISO at the end of 2020. The strategy defines the vision, mission, goals and priorities for development. Assessing the role of international standardization over the coming decade, four major drivers of change were identified as areas where international standards have the greatest influence and relevance in the world: the economy, technology, society and the environment.

          The Strategy also includes an action plan for its implementation and a system of indicators to measure progress in achieving the stated goals.

          A number of strategic planning documents were also adopted in regional standards organizations in 2020, including:

          - The 2021-2025 Strategic Plan of the Pacific Area Standards Congress (PASC), which defines the vision, key priorities, and a list of basic implementation activities for the plan;

          - Strategic Development Plan of the Standards and Metrology Institute for the Islamic Countries (SMIIC) for the period 2021-2030, containing the vision, mission and strategic directions of the organization, as well as 13 strategic objectives and 20 key performance indicators, based on which the goals will be achieved. As well as the Development Strategy of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification for the period until 2030.
