Meeting of the technical committee for standardization TC 214 "Protection of products and materials against corrosion, aging and bio-damage", the secretariat of which is held by "STANDARTINFORM" took place on July 16, 2020.
The discussion was about the beginning of formation of the draft National Standardization Program (NSP) for 2021 and about the development of norms in the field of corrosion of steel with the use of zinc as anticorrosive coating in atmospheric environments.
The received proposals for inclusion in NSP-2021 concerning the development of standards for terms and definitions in the field of protective organic coatings, electrochemical protection, and corrosion inhibitors are considered.
For TC 214 it is interesting to develop standards at the station drainage automatic and non-automatic and standards for qualification levels and certification of personnel performing cathodic protection.
It was noted that the implementation of NSP-2020 is going according to plan, in particular, the first editions of 11 draft standards (federal budget) have been submitted, draft 3 documents developed at the expense of the developer, one of which was voted on and approved the final version of GOST R "Unified system of protection against corrosion and aging. Electrochemical protection. Electroinsulating inserts (couplings). General technical specifications".
The feasibility of developing norms in the field of corrosion of steel with zinc as an anticorrosive coating in atmospheric environments was discussed. World practice and results of field tests of galvanized steel structures testify to their applicability and significant service life even in corrosive environments (humid and marine climate, industrial atmospheres). That is why it is necessary to develop relevant national standards and to introduce this work into NSP-2021.
It was noted, that Association for the Development of Steel Construction and National University of Science and Technology, which plan to join the ranks of TC 214 members, took keen interested in the meeting.
