At the beginning of August eight standards of series GOST for the equipment and covering of children's playgrounds came into force with participation of "STANDARTINFORM"
GOST 34614.1-2019 «Playground equipment and surfacing. Part 1. General safety requirements and test methods». Wooden elements of the stationary playground equipment, according to the standard, should be made in such a way that precipitation can flow freely from them without creating water accumulations. Metal parts are protected against corrosion by a non-toxic coating. Closed parts of the playgrounds are tunnels, playhouses are designed so that adults have access in GOST 34614.3-2019 side them to help children.
GOST 34614.2-2019 «Playground equipment and surfacing. Part 2. Additional specific safety requirements and test methods for swings». GOST applies to children's stationary swings with one or more axes of rotation. The clearance of the swing - the distance between the playground and the seat at the lower point of the trajectory - must be at least 350 mm. Free space under the seat - not less than 400 mm. If the seat comes into contact with the support beam during use, material for its protection must be placed on the beam. Swings with more than two seats are separated by supports so that there are no more than two seats in each section.
GOST 34614.3-2019 «Playground equipment and surfacing. Part 3. Additional specific safety requirements and test methods for slides». GOST contains safety requirements for spiral curved, adjustable, free-standing and "on the slope" slides. Each slide has a starting section of at least 350 mm with an angle of inclination from 0° to 5°. The width of the sliding section for flat bottom slides shall be less than 700 mm with the length of the sliding section exceeding 1500 mm. The slides shall be made in such a way as to prevent trapping of clothing and injury to the user.
GOST 34614.4-2019 «Playground equipment and surfacing. Part 4. Additional specific safety requirements and test methods for cableways». The design of the flexible hanging elements eliminates the danger of suffocation. Do not use rigid suspension elements for ropeways with seats. For parallel ropeways, the distance between the ropes shall be at least 2000 millimeters (mm). The free fall height for seated ropeways should not exceed 2000 mm, for hanging ropeways - 1500 mm.
GOST 34614.5-2019 «Playground equipment and surfacing. Part 5. Additional safety requirements and test methods for carousels». GOST covers carousels, diameter more than 500 mm. Carousels are divided into several types. Type A is a carousel without a rotating platform, where seats for users are made in the form of seats or handrails connected to the central axis through the supporting structure. Such a carousel provides at least three seats, evenly distributed throughout the circumference. Type B is a classic carousel with a rotating platform. Type C is a rotating fungus carousel or suspension handrails. The type D carousel rotates along a flat or wave-shaped circular guide driven by muscle force. Type E includes carousels with an inclined axle disc.
GOST 34614.6-2019 "Playground equipment and surfacing. Part 6. Additional safety requirements and test methods for rockers ". This document app lies to rocker-balances - axial (moving only in the vertical direction), connecting rods (moving horizontally in one direction) and flywheels (moving horizontally and vertically simultaneously). Foot and hand supports are firmly fixed and cannot be turned without special tools. The recommended handle size available for small children is 30 mm.
GOST 34614.10-2019 «Playground equipment and surfacing. Part 10. Additional safety requirements and test methods for fully enclosed play equipment». The standard specifies the requirements for children under 14 to play in an enclosed space. Evacuation routes in such rooms have a height of at least 1300 mm and a width of at least 900 mm, except for those that accommodate less than 20 children. Equipment located along evacuation routes shall not block entry and exit.
GOST 34614.11-2019 «Playground equipment and surfacing. Part 11. Additional specific safety requirements and test methods for spatial networks». The Spatial Playground is a climbing structure that forms a three-dimensional playing space. The flexible elements of this design, which form a kind of cells, make so large that an imaginary vertical cylindrical pattern with a diameter of 650 mm and a height of 1800 mm fit into the cell and easily pass through it.
