Three interstate standards on automobile industry came into force on the last day of autumn.
GOST 34600-2019, Operational service cars for patroling and checking to the places of the accidents of accessories of rescue parts organization of the law-order. Technical requirements, comes into force for the first time and applies to special vehicles designed for patrol service of public order protection, the departure of investigation and operational teams and delivery of special equipment to the scene of the accident. According to the standard, operational service cars are made on the basis of buses or cars with all-metal five-door body. It is equipped with a working salon that accommodates law enforcement personnel; a detainee compartment that should accommodate at least two people; and an auxiliary compartment. There may be a table in the working salon of operational service cars, the surface dimensions of which should be at least 430 × 310 mm. The design of the compartment for detainees provides complete isolation of people staying outside the car.
GOST 34601-2019, The automobile vehicles working on compressed natural gas. Cryogenic power supply systems. Technical requirements and test methods, and GOST 34602-2019, Automotive vehicles using gas as a motor fuel. General technical requirements for the operation of liquefied natural gas, safety and test methods, replaced the national standards of the same name five years ago.
GOST 34601-2019 applies to cryogenic fuel tanks of cars. Such tanks are used for onboard storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The minimum working pressure of the tank is 26 MPa, the maximum pressure is determined by the manufacturer. The temperature of the liquid in the tank may vary from minus 195 °C to minus 65 °C inclusive. The tanks shall not be subject to continuous mechanical and physical impact. Cryogenic tanks are tested for fire resistance, dumping, retention time, impact, tension, bending, welding analysis. Tanks that have been in traffic accidents are subject to repeated inspection by the relevant authority approved by the manufacturer. If the tank has not been damaged by any impact during the collision, further use is allowed.
GOST 34602-2019 establishes technical requirements to operation and methods of testing cryogenic on-board fuel systems (COBFS) installed on cars and trucks operating on liquefied natural gas (LNG). The document specifies the features of LNG storage and COBFS regasification in the vehicle. For example, if the downtime of the vehicle exceeds the time of drainless storage, it is necessary to either drain the gas and clean the battery elements from deposits and contaminants, or connect the drainage system to a gas dump device.
The cryogenic on-board fuel systems refueling at the cryogenic filling station is carried out in automatic control mode. Refuelling outside the cryogenic fuelling station is carried out according to a special fuelling technology, which should be developed by the operating service, based on the technical documentation for the fuel tanker and the cryogenic on-board fuel systems. The standard specifies measures to eliminate clogging of communication lines and devices with solid deposits. The most probable places for crystallization of sediments are cryogenic valves through which gas passes. Debris removals are performed by the evaporation method. Hot water or steam can be used for heating. It is prohibited to heat the device with open flames.
Regular emptying of the cryogenic on-board fuel systems tank is carried out during regulated repair work of the vehicle fuel system.
Emergency emptying of the cryogenic on-board fuel systems tank occurs when the tightness of the thermal insulation is broken, when the system is unpressurized or when communications, fittings and evaporators are clogged with solid deposits. Before emergency emptying, it is necessary to stop the vehicle, call the reserve tank and pour LNG into it. If the tank cannot be called, the gas can be dumped on the ground in a place remote from residential and industrial buildings from the windy side. After such emptying, the gas evaporates into the atmosphere.
