"STANDARTINFORM" took part in the 6th meeting of the Council for the Heads of National Standardization Bodies in the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) on December 15, 2020.
The event was videoconferenced by the Chairman of the Council, Head of Gosstandart of Belarus, V.B. Tataritsky. The Russian side was represented by the Deputy Head of Rosstandart, A.P. Shalaev. The Minister for Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), V.V. Nazarenko took part in the meeting.
Effective development of standardization mechanisms in the Eurasian space, deepening of cooperation of the EAEU with the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification ( ISC) of the CIS member states, coordination of works in the field of standardization within the EAEU, coordinated policy in the planning of standardization works, digital transformation of the interstate standards development process were the issues discussed by the meeting participants.
Improving cooperation in the field of standardization is aimed at supporting industry and business. It was the leitmotif of the meeting.
An important role in this process, as noted by the meeting participants, is the implementation of the Agreement on the joint activities of national standards institutes of the EAEU member states, signed on December 9, 2020, the main provisions of which in his speech said Acting Director General of "STANDARTINFORM", A.N. Mikheev.
The Agreement is multilateral, open and aims to assist its participants in planning the development of interstate standards, directly in their development, review and revision on comments received, as well as in the development of a comprehensive information system, the official publication and dissemination of interstate standards. The draft document was prepared by "STANDARTINFORM".
"The expected effectiveness from the implementation of the agreement is to reduce the time for the development and actualization of standards to confirm the requirements of the technical regulations of the Eurasian Union," - highlighted A.N. Mikheev. The rapporteur attributed to the results of the implementation of the agreement: improving the efficiency of planning, monitoring the development and practical application of standards; dissemination of best practices for their development and application; creation of its own negotiating platform for national standards institutes; use of modern mechanisms for harmonization of draft standards; ensuring the transition to the use of unified information systems; the possibility of coordination by national institutes of standardization of the interstate technical committees on standardization in their countries and the involvement of young professionals in the work on standardization.
The agreement also covers coordination of training and professional development programs and international cooperation in the field of standardization.
Along with the Agreement on joint activities of national standardization institutes of the EAEU member states, a plan of measures for its implementation was signed, which puts the planned ways of development into practice.
At the end of the meeting V.B. Tataritsky transferred the chairmanship of the Council for 2021 to A.T. Abenov, the Chairman of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
