Technical Committee for standardization in the field of tourism was created

          24.03.2021

New technical committee on standardization "Tourism and related services" (TC 401) was formed by the order of Rosstandart.

The new TC was created in order to improve the regulatory framework and full development of domestic and inbound tourism, development and implementation of standards in the tourism industry to improve service quality and the formation of unified requirements in tourism, accessibility, safety and comfort of ecological tourism, which is strategically important for the Russian Federation, in particular within the Strategy for Tourism Development in the Russian Federation until 2035 implementation of the upcoming national project in the field of tourism.

The Federal Agency for Tourism (Rosturizm), which took the initiative to create the technical committee, is in charge of the secretariat of TC 401. Z.V. Doguzova, the head of Rostourism, was appointed to the position of the TC chairperson. Mr. Kuprikov, an employee of Standardinform, is the deputy chairman of TC.

"Today the tourism industry has entered the stage of rapid development, and national standards in the industry have not been updated for more than 5 years, many of them do not meet international norms and objectively outdated. The formation of unified requirements for safety in tourism, quality services and level of service is the basis of the industry and the guarantee of a comfortable stay of our citizens and foreign visitors traveling in Russia. That is why we consider it necessary to create a new committee that will develop relevant approaches to standardization and improve the already adopted, which will certainly strengthen the position of Russia in the international tourism market", - explained the head of Rostourism.

TC 401 includes authorities, Roskachevo, higher education organization Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sport, Youth and Tourism, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, public organizations, the International Academy of Youth Tourism, and other public organizations.

An important task for the new technical committee will also represent the interests of the Russian Federation in the International Organization for Standardization in the technical committee for standardization ISO/TC 228 "Tourism and related services".
