The first edition of the draft All-Russian Classifier of Standards (OKS) was developed by Standardinform together with the Technical Committee for All-Russian Classifiers (TK 000).
The document is harmonized with the Seventh (Relevant at the moment) edition of International classification of Standards (ISO MKS).
After the discussion by the Technical Committee for standardization, approval by a number of federal executive authorities and approval by Rosstandart, it will replace the current MK classifier (ISO/INFCO MKS) 001-96) 001-2001.
«The development of the new version of the OKS is due to the need to present new areas of activity, achievements of scientific and technological progress», explained the chairman of TC 000, director of the Department of All-Russian Classifiers of «Standartinform» Alexey Bury.
This is achieved by adding previously unpresented standardization objects in the description of groupings.
The inclusion in the project of the version OKS a new group: «Additive manufacturing», reflects the development of standards in the field of innovation technologies for slowly building up and synthesis of objects.
Project OKS provides for the possibility of showing the national characteristics of the national economy of the Russian Federation by dividing groups (without subgroups) and subgroups into additional groupings with two-digit codes separated by a hyphen.
The classification objects, the hierarchical three-stage classification system and the structure of the code designation have been preserved.
To provide additional search capabilities, an alphabetic subject index has been developed and included in the classifier.
