Russian Standardization Institute (FSBI «RST») took part in the XXXI International Scientific Conference «Language and Culture» which was held during the period of 11-14th of October 2021 in an online format. The organizer of this event was Tomsk State University (TSU).
Exchange of scientific results and research experience, analysis of the results of scientific outcomes by the scholars and practicing specialists on actual problems in the field of intercultural communication, linguistics, translation studies and language education were main aims of this Conference.
Director of the Department of Forming and Maintenance of Information Resources of FSBI «RST» Evgeny Makoveev, Chairman of the Technical Committee 055 «Terminology, Data Elements, Documentation in Business Processes and Electronic Commerce» (TC 055) performed with the report on perspective standardization plans in the field of provision of translation services in the section «Plain Language Day ». Project group of the Translation Teachers Association acted as an organizer of this section.
This section coincided with the International Plain Language Day which was celebrated for the first time in Russia. Its beginning was initiated by the law which obliged all federal authorities to use simple language during the communication with the citizens for the purposes of simplification of understanding of the texts.
Evgeny Makoveev told about main objectives of the Institute, current activities of the committee and new topics proposed by TC 055 for their addition in the National Standardization Program for 2022. Evgeny also informed about the amendments that were made in the Federal Law «On Standardization in the Russian Federation». These amendments cover registration of standards of the companies and technical specifications in the Federal Information Collection of Standards. FSBI «RST» is responsible for the maintenance of the Federal Information Collection of Standards.
Evgeny also provided the participants with the information about recently released normative acts of the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia aimed at the development of the above-mentioned changes. The following matters have been covered during the session:
- Methodology of the development of the documents of national standardization system and passing an expert review of the documents of national standardization system;
- Drafts of international standards developed by the international technical committee ISO TC 37 in terms of the plain language.
