The most demanded standard in February became GOST 22387.5-2021 «Gas for domestic and public consumption. Methods for determination of odor intensity» according to the information received from the Department of Distribution of the Documents on Standardization of the Russian Standardization Institute (FSBI «RST»). This interstate standard has become effective since July 2022.
Current document sets the methods for determination of an odor intensity of natural gas and liquefied petroleum gases for domestic consumption and use as a motor fuel for automobile transport.
There are two methods for determining the intensity of the smell of gas according to the standard: a chamber method and a method with the use of an odorimeter (a technical tool for creating a gas-air mixture with a particular proportion of air and researched gases). Both technologies apply an organoleptic assessment of the intensity of an odor of the gas-air mixture created in a room-chamber or in the odorimeter.
Intensity can be assessed according to a five-ball scale in which 0- there is no odor, 5- strong odor.
Initial reading of the gas meter is recorded in the test report to determine the intensity by the chamber method. Further gas is supplied to the chamber room in the volume necessary to create a volume fraction of natural gas equal to 1.0% in the air. The testers come into the room closing the door tightly and after a minute they fill out the forms issued to them according to the annex specified in the document.
Certain volume fraction of natural gas in the air is determined using the method with an odorimeter. The testers alternately determine the intensity of the smell of the gas-air mixture coming out of the funnel of the device, record the results in the test form without transmitting information to each other.
GOST 34786-2021 «Drinking water. Methods for determining the total number of microorganisms, coliform bacteria, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterococcus»
This document has become effective for the first time since January 2022 and it is used by a great number of customers. It is distributed on water- centralized and non-centralized drinking, hot water supply, water for swimming pools and water parks, packaged drinking water including natural mineral water as well as water for use in the production of alcoholic beverages.
Standard contains description of methods for determining the total number of microorganisms: inoculation in an agarized medium; use of membrane filters; using petrifilms - test systems with surface-supported ready-made nutrient media; as well as an automated method for counting the colonies on a dense nutrient medium.
Another highly demanded document is GOST 19092-2021 Buckwheat. Specifications which has come into force since January 2022.
Current interstate standard applies to the buckwheat grain supplied for food purposes including for child nutrition.
Buckwheat is divided into three classes depending on the quality. Certain norms of the following indicators such as color, condition, smell, core content, humidity, heavy and grain impurities, acidity are given in current standard. For example, the first class is characterized by the below-mentioned parameters: gray, brown, plain color or color with different shades; a core content should be at least 73%.
The content of spoiled grains and harmful impurities in the grain of the first class intended for the production of goods for child nutrition is not allowed.
