GOST 22387.5-2021 «Gas for domestic and public consumption. Methods for determination of odor intensity» was of concern among the customers. This document will come into force since July 2022.
There are two methods for determining the intensity of the smell of gas according to the standard: a chamber method and a method with the use of an odorimeter (a technical tool for creating a gas-air mixture with a particular proportion of air and researched gases) for further organoleptic evaluation of the intensity of the smell. Both technologies apply an organoleptic assessment of the intensity of an odor of the gas-air mixture created in a room-chamber (chamber method) or in an odorimeter.
Intensity of gas odor is evaluated according to the five-ball scale:
- 0 - no odor;
- 1 - faint odor, non-concrete one;
- 2 - faint odor, concrete one;
- 3 -moderate odor;
- 4 - strong odor;
