GOST R 59984-2022 «Biological safety. Biorecultivation. General specifications» became effective on the 15th of April 2022.
This document has been implemented for the first time and it is distributed on biorecultivation of the disturbed lands, recovery of technology-related contaminated territories, manufacturing technology and use of biorecultivants, provision of biological safety of the environment using the biorecultivant BIOFULEN that has been developed in the Russian Federation.
Current national standard specifies biorecultivation as a recovery of the disturbed lands and technology-related contaminated subjects of macroeconomic activities using biorecultivants; biorecultivants as substances of biological, organic, natural, industrial and mineral origin received by the technology of cold hydrolysis and which are intended for the recovery and improvement of physical and chemical properties of the disturbed lands with further increase of fertility. The term «technology-related contaminated territories» means the lands that lost their agricultural value or which are the source of negative impact on the environment due to the violation of soil covering, plant stand, hydrologic condition and creation of the anthropogene relief because of the human activities.

Biorecultivant should include concentrated gel of highly active humic substances in its composition. This gel is produced from the ripe peat with an optimized content of humic and fulvic acids. Biorecultivants are produced in the form
of gels. Biorecultivants are not toxic.
Humic acids are polyelectrolytes and they form the soil-cover absorbing complex together with organic and mineral substances of the soil. Humic acids have great number of various functional groups and they can adsorb and retain nutrient chemicals, major nutrient elements and micro nutrient elements that enter the soil. These humic acids retain the above-mentioned nutrient chemicals and substances. Humic acids are tightly connected with the soil minerals and these acids are fixed in the soil and have a long-lasting positive effect on the structure of the soil, increase its absorption capacity, contribute to the accumulation of the elements of soil fertility and create a water-resistant structure.
Current standard contains the data in terms of acceptance procedures
of biorecultivants, rules for their packaging and marking, safety measures, procedures for transportation and storage.
