          Cooperation with the Republic of Serbia in the field of standardization

          Meeting with the CEO of the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology (GOST R) Anton Shalaev and the Director General of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia (ISS) and Tatjana Bojanic was held on the 3rd of June 2022. This session was carried out in the format of videoconference.  Russian delegation was presented by the representatives of the Central Office of GOST R and the Russian Standardization Institute. Heads of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia presented the delegation of Serbia.

          ISS was founded in 2007 as the only national body on standardization of the Republic of Serbia that was responsible for standardization activities. ISS is coordinates the activities of more than 130 national technical committees on standardization, carries out maintenance of the Collection of Serbian standards and represents the Republic of Serbia in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and regional organizations on standardization.

          Matters of practical implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of standardization and conformity assessment that was signed between GOST R and ISS in 2019 became key points of the discussion during the session. Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of standardization and conformity assessment was reflected in the Joint Action Plan on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding.

          The Parties also discussed the perspectives of organization of joint trainings and workshops. Exchange of the best practices on the rules and procedures of the development of standards can be put into action in the framework of these trainings and workshops. Information exchange on national standards in the fields and sectors of the economy which can be areas of the highest priority for the Russian-Serbian trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation was marked as a perspective direction.

          Tatjana Bojanic told about current directions of the activities of ISS and she paid special attention to the activities in the field of voluntary certification that had been already started in ISS.

          The Perties agreed that they would conduct next session in Autumn 2022.

          Russian Standardization Institute was presented by the Director of the Department of International Cooperation Julia Tufanova.
