World Metrology Day is an important date for science, industry and economics. On May 20, 1875, the Metric Convention was signed, which ensured the unity of international standards. Technology, research, and innovation cannot be developed without metrology. At the same time, standardization unifies processes and products, simplifying production and maintenance.
In the digital age, technology is changing our lives, and digital standards guarantee reliable measurements. The Russian standardization institute develops digital services based on the only official source of standardization documents — the Federal Information Collection of Documents. Russian standardization institute is an official operator of the Federal Information Collection of Documents. More than 64% of the documents have been converted to a machine-readable format. More than 100 documents in the Federal Collection are updated every day.
We remind you that the use of counterfeit standards entails the risk of suspension of accreditation.
Recently, the Standardization Ecosystem Center for Collective Use was established on the basis of the Institute (https://www.gostinfo.ru/News/Details/1884). This innovative project is aimed at the effective use of verified data in the research activities of the Institute and to fulfill orders from external organizations. Measurement accuracy, standardization and international cooperation are key factors of progress.
On World Metrology Day, we thank those who create a secure future.
