Head of the International Cooperation Department of FGUP Standartinform Julia Tufanova performed at the section «Intellectual Property on Standards. Licensing. Patents and Standards» on the final day of the 10th annual International workshop on standardization in Saint Petersburg on June 1, 2016.
Matters of copyright of the developers of standards, legitimacy and formality of translations of the documents on standardization, use of the patent information for reducing the risks in a competitive market were discussed.
Performance of the Head of the International Cooperation Department was devoted to the matters of legitimacy and quality of translations of the documents on standardization. Julia Tufanova told that Standartinform had agreements on cooperation with various international standardization organizations among which there were International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), national bodies on standardization of Spain, France, Great Britain, Germany etc. They contain a paragraph enabling to make translations. «Matters of qualitative and legitimate translations are very urgent nowadays in the modern world of standardization. Speaking about foreign standards we have to understand that as a rule these documents are protected by the copyrights. And while making translations it is important to take into account that legal owner has to give permission for these translations if we plan to use this translated text further»,–she pointed out. She also added that translations became official after registration in the Federal Information Fund of Standards and Technical Regulations.
For making precise and reliable translations of technical texts it is necessary to know the language and understand the described processes as well. Rules of provision of translation services which were developed by Standartinform set the requirements for main processes, recourses and other aspects of translation of technical documentation and also for the design.
«Improving the quality of translations is necessary for further information exchange of the documents on standardization. Standartinform permanently works in this direction», – highlighted J.S.Tufanova
Another report was devoted to the practical aspects of implementation of the Agreement of Rosstandart – European Committees on Standardization (CEN/CENELEC), which was signed on September 2013. Rosstandart chose Standartinform as an informational and financial operator of this agreement.
