We are mourning for people who gave their lives protecting our motherland on the day of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War on the 22th of June. We are proud of resistance and heroism of our soldiers, courage of workers in the rear. We also remember bravery of the warriors and selflessness of people dealing with manufacturing at this difficult time.
All spheres of public and economic activities of the Soviet Union including activities on standardization were changed when the war began.
During the first months of the war relevant standards were changed, also sections of standards on tank and plane production and small weapons were created. Massive development of new standards began in the following years. New special group of standards – standards of a wartime marked as «GOST V» occurred on June, 1941. They were aimed at rational use of raw materials, reducing limit values of consumption of materials and acceleration of the production.
During the Great Patriotic War publishing house «Standardgiz» published standards for the provision of interoperability of the nodes and components, reduction of testing time of the equipment, fuller use of the material inputs first of all of strategic goods, reduction of limit values of consumption of materials in order to increase production of military goods and military build-up of the country. Thematic plan of «Standardgiz» printing was approved by the Order of All-union Committee of Standards subordinated to the Council of People's Commissars.
Each industrial enterprise had an opportunity to get needed standards on time during the Great Patriotic War. Subscription for series of standards or number of standards were arranged. These standards were complemented by the publishing house according to the classifier or a single order for a separate standard was made.
