National standard GOST R 57022-2016 «Organic production. The procedure of voluntary certification of organic production» will be implemented in the Russian Federation since January 1, 2017. The main aim of its implementation is establishing common Regulation of voluntary certification of organic production.
Nowadays there are various markings and certificates declaring that the goods are produced without food additives, synthetic fertilizers and GMO. But it is not simple to make it out both for consumers and market participants. New standard will facilitate the decision-making in favor of real organic products. It meets the best international practices.
Its draft was developed according to the Commission Regulation (EU) from September 5,2008 № 834/2007 with the Provisions on rules of execution of the Council Regulation (EU) № 834/2007 on organic production, marking and production control ( EU Official Journal from September 18,2008), a standard of the Codex Alimentarius Commission «Main provisions on production, processing, marking and sales of organic food products (GL 32-1999, REV. 1-2001)» and basic standards of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements( IFOAM).
State Duma Committee on agrarian issues took the lead in the development of the standard.
Approved standard is designed for the use for bodies during the certification of the production of organic products and organizations pretending to hold such certification.
This standard is interconnected with the adopted national standards such as GOST R 56104-2014 «Organic foods. Terms and definitions» and GOST R 56508-2015 «Organic production. Regulations for production, storage, transportаtion».
