Use of standards ensures stable functioning of various industries of national economy including glass industry. Employees of glass sector annually celebrate their professional holiday on November 19.
Federal Information Fund of Standards nowadays contains more than one hundred documents on standardization in this field among which there are standards on sheet glass, decorative articles of glass, safety glass for ground vehicles, ornamental glass, glass for gas masks and goggles and many other glass products.
Significant part of these standards are developed by JSC «Glass Institute» which is a leading secretariat of technical committee on standardization «Glass» (TC 41). Among them there are:
GOST 33004-2014 «Glass and glass products. Characteristics. Terms and definitions» describes the following definitions: failure pattern, thermal stability, crash worthiness, tamper resistance, frost resistance, durability, sound absorption and other characteristics of glass and glass products.
GOST 17716-2014 «Mirrors. General specifications» is applied to mirrors dedicated for interiors, means of transport, furniture. Nevertheless, this document cannot be used for findings and bought out components for glass.
GOST 33561-2015 «Glass and glass products. Application guidelines» reduces risks of destruction of glass products and prolongs their lifetime.
TC 133 «Safety glass and glass products for transport» and TC 74 «Glass packaging and glassware» also take part in the development of standards of glass industry.
