This holiday is annually celebrated in Russia on January 13. It is connected with the edition of the printed newspaper called «Bulletin of the military and other matters worthy of the knowledge and memory of what happened in the Muscovite State and in other surrounding countries». It happened in 1703 and it laid the foundation of Russian printing.
Publishing activities belong to the edition of regulatory and technical documentation on standardization, which makes FGUP «Standartinform».
Its history begins from the Publishing house of peoples commissariat of workers' and peasants' Inspectorate which was responsible for edition of official and informal periodicals and non periodicals in the field of standardization. Successor of this organization became Publishing house of standards. It should be mentioned that this Publishing house beforehand changed its names many times. Among them there are «standardization and rationalization», State publishing house of standards «Standardgiz».
By the end of last century «Standardgiz» became one of the largest central scientific and technical publishing houses of USSR having its own polygraphic base and distributional network.
By the Decree of The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from October 17, 1975 «Standardgiz» was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honour for its fruitful activities on publication and distribution of state standards and scientific and technical literature.
After formation of FGUP «Standartinform» in 2005 on the base of «Standardgiz» and All-Russian Research Institute for the Classification and Codification of Technical Information of the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology Department of Printing of Standartinform carries on traditions of national publishing in the field of standardization.
