Professional holiday of Doctors of Science, Candidates of Science and all scientific employees is celebrated annually on February 8 in Russia.
Special national standard exists for those who is going to present a dissertation and also for those who works with scientific and technical information in the libraries and publishing houses.
GOST R 7.0.11-2011 «System of standards on information, librarianship and publishing. Dissertation and dissertation abstract. Structure and rules of presentation» was developed by the Russian State Library and it is applied to the thesis presented as manuscript or scientific report.
This standard describes how to design front page, contents, text of the thesis itself, list of acronyms and symbols, list of terms and references and applications.
Main text of the work should be divided into chapters, paragraphs or sections and subsections which are numbered with the Arabic numerals. Conclusion of the thesis contains results of the research, recommendations and perspectives of further development of the topic.
Headlines should be put in the middle part of the page without full stop at the end. It is not permitted to wrap the words in the headlines.
All pages of the dissertation including illustrations and supplements should be numbered one by one without omissions and duplications. The first page is considered to be front page. Numeration is not put on the front page.
Illustrations can be presented as patterns, photos, maps, music texts, diagrams, sketches, schemes, diagrams and other materials.
