Charter of the Commonwealth of Independent States was adopted on January 22, 1993 at the session of the CIS Council of Heads of States in Minsk. Comprehensive economic and social development and interstate integration of States - CIS members were defined as one of the most important tasks in this Charter.
Facilitating standardization and certification of industrial products and goods was defined as one of areas of collaboration of States according to the Article 19 of this Charter. Activities of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification (EASC) are aimed at implementation of this above-mentioned area of cooperation.
Active cooperation in the field of information support of the EASC activities has been exercised during quarter of a century. Matters of increasing of efficiency of the EASC activities and matters of interstate information exchange were examined at the 51st EASC session, which were held in May-June 2017. For that purpose STANDARTINFORM developed Draft Agreement on distribution of the documents on interstate standardization and Procedure of distribution of the documents on interstate standardization. Draft Agreement was approved in the course of the session of the Committee on Economic Affairs of the CIS Economic Council on January 17, 2018. It was also agreed to submit this approved Agreement for further examination of the CIS Economic Council which would be held on March 2, 2018 in Moscow.
Joint activities of the EASC and STANDARTINFORM in the field of information support of interstate standardization and development of GOSTs are exercised according to the EASC fundamental organizational and methodological documents and according to relevant Agreement between the EASC Bureau for standards and STANDARTINFORM.
Authorized representatives and experts from STANDARTINFORM are taking part in the EASC sessions and sessions of its working bodies, provide the EASC Bureau for standards with the information on entry into force of the documents of the Russian Federation on interstate standardization and on the list of translations of interstate and regional standards.
Cooperation concerning information support in the field of technical regulation under the Agreement between STANDARTNFORM, Belarusian State Institute of Standardization and Certification (BelGISS) and Kazakh Institute of Standardization and Certification (KazInSt) from February 4, 2013 and also in the field of cataloguing in the framework of a pilot project of the Interstate catalogue of goods of the Republic of Belarus and Russian Federation (which was created jointly with BelGISS) are important areas of activities.
