          Standard on management system for sustainable development has been approved

          GOST R ISO «Sustainable development in communities. Management system. Main principles and requirements» was developed by STANDARTINFORM and it was approved by the Order of Rosstandart in August 2018.

          National administrative bodies on federal, regional and municipal levels will gain effective tool for addressing ecological, human problems such as ageing of population, migrations, inequality, stressful way of life, unprecedented impact of technologies and other matters for improving quality of life of Russian citizens.

          Key provisions of planning, functioning, evaluation of results and improvement in the performance of sustainable development were described in this standard.

          This document was based on the requirements of international standard - ISO 37101:2016 «Sustainable development in communities – Management system for sustainable development — Requirements with guidance for use».

          Different matters were covered in this standard on the basis of provisions of the UN in the field of sustainable development and systematic approach. These matters are the following: administration, empowerment and involvement of interested parties in processes of sustainable development, capacity-building of the society, matters of art and making researches,  development of new forms of cooperation while development of innovations and making breakthrough projects, environmental issues, culture and protection of identity, economy and sustainable production and consumption, security matters, development of infrastructure, preservation and improvement of local, regional and global environment especially protection, recovery and extension of biodiversity.

          Special attention is paid to activities of top city managers. It is determined that senior management has to demonstrate their leading role and obligations in terms of sustainable development in communities, create policy of sustainable development and  identify objectives of sustainability in communities and examine them while making involvement of interested parties.

          This document was submitted for approval by technical committee «Sustainable development of administrative-territorial units» and agreed with related technical committee on standardization «Management systems».

          Standard has been implemented for the first time and it will come into effect on March 01, 2019.
