Director General of STANDARTINFORM Viacheslav Vitushkin took part in a working visit of GOST R delegation in the USA that was held from April 15-18, 2019. Meetings with API (American Petroleum Institute), NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), ASTM International and ANSI (American National Standards Institute) took place in the framework of this business trip.
Head of GOST R Aleksey Abramov headed Russian delegation that consisted of Deputy Head of GOST R Sergey Golubev and Director General of STANDARTINFORM Viacheslav Vitushkin.
Matters of bilateral cooperation in the field of standardization, opportunity of conclusion of API-GOST R Memorandum, collaboration between STANDARTINFORM and API (within the framework of this Memorandum) were examined during this business visit.
Matters of strengthening the exchange of information on standardization, distribution of ASTM standards in the Russian Federation in the framework of current Agreement ASTM-STANDARTINFORM were discussed during the meeting with Senior Vice-President of ASTM International John Pace. ASTM International is one of the leading organizations on development of standards in the world. Special attention was also paid to the matters of unauthorized distribution of ASTM standards and making legal translations of these documents.
Chief Executive Officer of ANSI Joe Bhatia told about main fields of ANSI activities that coordinate standardization system and system of conformity assessment in the USA. ANSI is the only organization in the USA that accredits developers of standards.
Special attention was paid to the issues of ensuring the uniformity of measurements during the visit in NIST. NIST is considered as the global center of metrology and standardization in the USA.
