Polar Explorer's day: review of insulation and product packaging standards

          21.05.2019

Dedicated to the professional Day of the polar explorer, which is celebrated annually on May 21 STANDARTINFORM launched a thematic review of the standards.

GOST R 57632–2017 «Non-woven textiles for protective clothing. Warm textiles. Technical requirements. Methods of testing» was introduced for the first time a year ago and applies to materials for the manufacture of special clothing used to protect workers from low temperatures.

Nonwoven materials for insulation, depending on the methods of bonding fibers in the canvas are divided into: mechanically bonded, physico-chemical, combined. By types of used fibers insulation is classified into made of natural or chemical fibers. Nonwovens can be made of natural fibers (wool, cotton, linen) and artificial origin (modacrylic, polyester, polyamide, aramid).

Non-woven fabrics containing at least 50% natural fibers can be classified as natural (e.g. cotton, wool).

GOST 15846–2002 «Production for transportation to the areas of Far North and similar regions. Packing, marking, transportation and storage» is currently in effect and entered instead of GOST 15846–79

The standard establishes requirements for packaging: food and taste products, fruit, vegetable and field crops; textile and leather materials and products; cultural and household goods, sanitation and hygiene; hunting and fishing accessories; machinery, equipment and tools; measuring devices, automation, computing, multiplying, electronic equipment, radio electronics and communications; energy and sanitary equipment; vehicles; building materials, structures and parts, minerals; timber, wood and paper; oil and chemical products; metal, rubber-asbestos, silicate-ceramic and carbon products.

According to the document, for example, confectionery (cookies, waffles, caramel, marmalade, chocolate, etc.) is packed in metal cans or boxes of corrugated cardboard with polyethylene or paraffin coating, or hermetically sealed film liner bags, and then – in dense Board or plywood boxes. The inscription should be applied: "In tin", "In polyethylene" and the date of products manufacture.

At the same time it is allowed to apply the container which was in use if its quality conforms to requirements. In case of food and drug packaging, the health authorities must approve the use of packaging.
