Crane operator day is celebrated in Russia on June 4.
Here is a brief overview of the standards for cranes. The documents came into force in early June.
GOST 34584-2019, Cranes. Measurement of the mass of a crane and its components, establishes general procedures for measuring the mass of the crane and its components (components), which is performed to confirm the passport data. For this purpose, measuring platforms (scales), compression and tension dynamometers, support prisms, level and leveling, ropes and chain slings as well as auxiliary lifting devices can be used. The crane must be fully equipped for use, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. During the measurement, the influence of horizontal forces shall be excluded. All measured loads must be vertical. The center of gravity of the crane shall be located on the vertical axis conducted through the symmetry center of the measuring platform. The results of measuring the mass of the crane or its components shall be in the form of a report, which should contain the type of crane or the name of the assembly or component with a description, the name of the manufacturer, date of weighing, measurement conditions; the name and initials of the person who carried out the weighing.
GOST 31272.1-2018, Cranes. Training of drivers (operators). Part 1. General, establishes general requirements for the selection of candidates for training as a crane operator (machinist) of all types of cranes, as well as contains basic provisions regarding their professional training. The selection should take into account both physical characteristics - vision, lack of vertigo and coordination disorders when working at height or during rotation, and psychological - behavior in stressful situations, psycho-emotional balance, sense of responsibility. Candidates for training should understand the language in which operating documents and information plates of cranes are written.
GOST 34591-2019, Cranes. Hand signals, establishes requirements to the signals, which are given by signalers during hoisting operations, as well as to the signals, which are given by voice using communication means. The voice signal must be clear and concise to avoid misunderstandings. Signals given by one hand must be understandable when using both right and left hand. The signaler should be in a safe position, be in the visibility area of the crane operator, be able to constantly monitor the load. Voice signals can complement the signaling with the hands, they must be given in a language that is understood by the crane operator. In order to ensure the uniformity of the hand signals and voice commands, a copy of the document with these signals should be given to all participants in lifting operations.
