History

Federal State Budgetary Institution “Russian Standardization Institute”  (FSBI “RSI”) is a subordinated organization of the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology (GOST R) which has been created as a result of restructuring of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Russian Scientific and Technical Centre for Information on Standardization, Metrology and Conformity Assessment” ( FGUP “STANDARTINFORM”)  according to the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated March 2, 2021  No. 519-R.

Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Russian Scientific and Technical Centre for Information on Standardization, Metrology and Conformity Assessment” (FGUP “STANDARTINFORM”) was founded in 2005 on the basis of:

  • All-Russian Scientific Research Institute for Classification, Terminology and Information on Standardization and Quality Control (VNIIKI) which was created in 1964
  • Publishing and Printing Complex “Publishing House of Standards” which was established in 1924

“Russian Research Institute of Standardization and Certification in Mechanical Engineering” (FGUP “VNIINMASH”), “Russian Research Institute of Standardization of Defense Products and Equipment” (FGUP “Rosoboronstandart”), Federal State Unitary Enterprise “All-Russian Research Center for Standardization, Information and Certification of Raw Stock Materials and Substances” (FGUP “VNII SMT”) were affiliated to the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Russian Scientific and Technical Centre for Information on Standardization, Metrology and Conformity Assessment” (FGUP “STANDARTINFORM”) in December 19, 2018.

FGUP “VNIINMASH” started its professional activities in 1958 while its predecessor - Central Design Bureau on Machine Tool Industry was founded in 1944.

FGUP “Rosoboronstandart” traced its history since 1968 when the All-Union Research Institute on Standardization of Common Equipment ( “VNIISOT”) was created.

FGUP “VNII SMT” is a successor of professional traditions of the All-Union Research and Development Centre on Materials and Substances of the State Standards Committee of the USSR that was founded in 1983.

FSBI “RSI” is a successor of the rights and responsibilities of the above-mentioned organizations. FSBI “RSI” is a custodian of their historic course.
